August Plant of the Month
Black Foot Daisy or Plains Black Foot Daisy
This Texas native hails from parts of Arizona, Colorado, and Texas that usually have alkaline soil and 16-28” of rainfall per year so East Texas acid soil and 40+ inches of rain could be challenging. So far my experience is that it grows beautifully in the summer but can suffer during our rainy winters. It only seems to come back about half the time. This may be a good plant to treat as an annual and either save seed or buy fresh plants next year.
